Khanh Dao, DDS
Dr. Khanh Dao was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Her passion in dentistry began from an early age from spending time at her mother’s dental practice. After graduating from the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree, she pursued her dental education at Virginia Commonwealth University.
At graduation, she was recognized with the Quintessence Award for Research Achievement for being the school’s first Innovation Team Leader and Clinical Consultant for their invention to prevent bur stick injuries. Dr. Dao was also an ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellow where she was the Lead Admissions Ambassador and was even invited to be a part of the Search Committee for the Dean of Admissions.
Afterwards, Dr. Dao pursued further training at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill’s General Practice Residency. She provided comprehensive care for medically compromised and special needs patients at the UNC Hospital Operating Room, rendered dental care for military veterans at the Durham Veteran Affairs Medical Center, and managed on-call trauma and infection patients in the UNC Emergency Department. Dr. Dao was also selected to become chief resident for her strong performance in the residency.
Dr. Dao went on to complete her endodontic training at the University of Pennsylvania where she was recognized with the prestigious Louis I. Grossman Award as the top endodontic resident for her outstanding didactic and clinical performance. While in residency, Dr. Dao taught microsurgical endodontics as a part of Penn Endo’s Continuing Education Program and even presented her research findings on bone window techniques at the American Association of Endodontics annual meeting.
